Nature at Home and Abroad

Bayleigh Albert, Collection: Nature at Home

Photography, 2022

“I believe my photographs would be a unique addition to this art exhibition, providing a broader perspective on experiences with nature beyond what is found in Virginia. These photographs would provide viewers with an educational experience and allow them to learn more about the natural world of Australia and why we should care about preserving ecosystems globally. I want my photographs to encourage and inspire viewers to care about the environment and ecosystems, igniting feelings of passion, wonder, and optimism for the future of our planet.” - Bayleigh Albert

These photos were taken all around Williamsburg, Virginia. I wanted to capture what makes up this small colonial town and the beauty that is found in it. I wanted it to act as a reminder that beauty in nature can be found anywhere, and just because a place is considered familiar does not mean it is less beautiful. Although Australia’s environments are much different than the ones here in Virginia, we are reminded that they are both wonderful and diverse. Our ability to appreciate nature is universal, as well as our mission to protect it. -Catherine Henry
